LINTON -- The Cloverdale eighth grade football team defeated Linton-Stockton 16-14 Tuesday evening. The Clovers conclude their season with a 5-4 record.

"Defense was the key to this game," Clover coach Billy Boyette said. He particularly emphasized the play of his defensive line. Rathel Moore had 16 tackles, six of which were for losses. Brian Dale had eight tackles and Jeremiah Valz added four more.

Offensively, Alex Law had a 38-yard run, while Zach Couse added a 27-yarder. Couse also had an important nine-yard run on a fourth-and-three to seal the victory.

Trevor Lockward ran for 89 yards from the quarterback position.

"This team was a great bunch of players to coach this year," Boyette said.
