Shirley M. Roof

Shirley M. Roof, 75, Greencastle, died Tuesday at Garden Villa Skilled Nursing Home in Bedford.

Born in Freemont, Ohio, she was the daughter of Merlin and Carlie (Folis) Siler.

A graduate of Dundee High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in general studies and a master's degree in education from the University of Michigan. She was a member of the Tuesday Reading Circle for 20 years.

She married Roger Roof on June 18, 1955 in Ann Arbor, Mich. He survives.

Also surviving are their children, Ryan Roof and wife Heidi, Climax, Mich., Bradley Roof and wife Lori, Climax, Mich., and Gordon Roof and wife Mely, Midland, Mich.; brother Harold Siler; four grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Galesburg, Mich., with Rev. Louis Mahue officiating. Burial will be in Roof Cemetery, Climax, Mich.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Friday.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at Putnam County Public Library in Greencastle.
