Habitat for Humanity benefits from DePauw

Wednesday, October 24, 2007
On hand for the donation were (from left) Autumn Hansen, Courtney Schmidt, Sarah Bowers and Marj Weaver.

Members of DePauw University's Panhellenic Pannell presented Marje Weaver, president of Putnam County Habitat for Humanity Inc., with a $3,500 donation recently.

This is the first installment of two years of planned giving by sororities to the local charity. Sarah Bowers, (second from right) says DePauw sororities have set a fundraising goal of $50,000 by 2009; enough for the construction of one new Habitat for Humanity home.

In addition, they pledged to unite students, alumni and local women to furnish all of the construction for that home, marking the Putnam County first "All Woman Build."

Putnam County Habitat for Humanity Inc. had a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 19 for a new home being donated to the Vance and Joyce Baker family at 50 Golden Dr., Reelsville. For more information on Putnam County Habitat for Humanity Inc., including upcoming building dates visit, www.pchhin.org.
