CRAWFORDSVILLE -- On Tuesday night, the Greencastle girls' basketball team fell to Southmont, 45-39, in a game that saw the Tiger Cubs out shot at the line 23-5.

In the first half, the Tiger Cubs fell behind due to turnovers and poor shooting.

"We were outplayed the first half, made too many turnovers and didn't shoot well. They were physical and we didn't handle it very well," GHS head coach Glen Hile said.

The Tiger Cubs trailed 19-11 entering the half.

After a tough third quarter, GHS finally hit its stride in the fourth, out gaining Southmont 18-13. It proved to be too little too late.

Hannah Spencer led the Tiger Cubs with 14 points, with Grace Fisher adding nine points. Chelsea Samuels contributed seven, while Cassie Alspaugh added five and Becky Grivas chipped in four points.

"I was very proud of our resolve to get back in the game. We played a great second half and knocked down some shots," Hile commented. "I really liked the way we came back, we showed a lot of character. A close game going into the tourney will help us."

Greencastle will next compete in the Putnam County Tournament at South Putnam beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday
