Christmas store provides help for local families

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

The Christmas Store is accepting both applications and donations to meet community needs this holiday season.

The Christmas Store is a place where parents Putnam County parents that are having financial difficulty can go Christmas shopping for their children, for free. Children must be under the age of 11 and reside with the parent shopping.

Ninety-six children received 2 gifts and 5 stocking stuffers last year due to the generosity of local businesses and organizations. Only 51 families have applied for this year's program, and organizers say there is room for many more.

Applications can be picked up at the Greencastle Police Department and Dollar General Stores and are due by Dec. 3. Applications may be sealed in an envelope and left at any application pick-up location. Applications and donations of toys or money can be mailed to: The Christmas Store, 1577 U.S. 231 N., Greencastle, IN 46135.
