Lowell Stringer

Lowell E. Stringer, 86, Terre Haute and formerly of Rockville, died Saturday at Terre Haute.

Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Lloyd and Opal (Meazel) Stringer.

He was an insurance agent for 32 years for the Western and Southern Life Insurance Co., working in Parke and Vigo counties. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of the William Penn Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, VFW and American Legion, all in Terre Haute.

He married Anna Stringer, who died in September 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Judith Martin, Morton, Ill.; three sons, Bobby Stringer and wife Irene, Danny L. Stringer and wife Wendy, St. Louis, Mo., and Jerry L. Stringer, Indianapolis; brother Martin Glen Stringer, Putnam County; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home, Rockville, with burial with military rites in Memory Garden Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
