Hazel V. Parker

Hazel V. Parker, 96, Plano, died Friday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Hendricks County, she was the daughter of Clyde Carl Rice and Verna (Shields) Rice. She married William A. Parker on Oct. 15, 1932, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1987.

She was an elementary teacher at Lewisville, Wakeland, Eminence and Hall, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors include children Dorothy Clements, Bargersville, Judy Jones, Plano, Wanda Tomlinson, Mooresville, Mary Parker, Plano, Barbara Merchant, Noblesville, George E. Parker, Lewisville, Carl Parker, Martinsville, William M. Parker, Plano, Blaine Parker, Paragon, and Bob Parker, Mooresville; 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Flossie Rice and brothers George Rice and Edward Rice.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Corinth Baptist Church, 4875 Plano Road, Martinsville, with burial to follow at Mannan Cemetery in Cloverdale.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
