Cougar swimmers visit Cascade

CLAYTON -- The North Putnam swim teams travel to Cascade to compete with the Cadets and Covenant Christian Saturday. The boys' team finished tied for first while the girls ended the day in third place.

For the boys, Jeremy Ban and Kyle Smith recorded two individual wins for the Cougars. Ban captured the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.99 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:06.31. Smith took the top spot in the 200-yard IM, winning with a time of 2:25.01 and the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.37.

The boys also paced the field, winning the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays. In the 200-yard relay, the team of C.J. Werner, Ban, Smith and Jon Taggart won with a time of 1:41.86, while the team of Ban, Werner, Chris Pierce and Patrick Byrd took the 400-yard relay in a time of 4:02.53.

For the girls, Katie Wilcox was the lone winner, taking the 50 free in 26.56.

The Cougars will host Tri-West and Fountain Central at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
