Max E. Jordan, 86, Gosport, died Wednesday at Mill Pond Health Campus, Greencastle.

Born in Georgetown, Ill., he was the son of Samuel O. and Hazel May (Steward) Jordan.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a maintenance troubleshooter for the Indiana University Foundation in Bloomington, and was a farmer and minister. He was a member of Cloverdale Christian Church.

He married Eleanor Marie Brooks on May 6, 1943. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Jeane Knapp and husband Tom, Georgetown, Ill., Janice Williamson and husband Jimmy, Sellers-burg, and Kaye Huber and husband Carroll, Clover-dale; son Darrell W. Jordan and wife Kathy, Cloverdale; sisters Caroline Brown, Catlin, Ill., and Susan Lovette and husband Ed, Georgetown, Ill.; brothers Paul O. Jordan and wife Irene, Georgetown, Ill., and Harold "Corky" Jordan and wife Irma, Georgetown, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ann Berry, Lela Hollingsworth and Ola Houck.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Scott Richmond officiating. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday.
