Hazel M. Scott

Hazel M. Scott, 88, Greencastle, died Monday at Mill Pond Health Campus.

Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Virgil and Elizabeth Grimes Buis.

She had been a production worker at Ball Brothers Zinc Mill, Bridgeport Brass and P.R. Mallory, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Jones and husband Gary, and Rita Ash, all of Greencastle; three sons, Russell Fitzsimmons and wife Judy, Brazil, Lester Fitzsimmons and wife Ann, and Ted Scott and wife Tracy, all of Arizona; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Nora Buis, Amy Custis, Madeline Campbell and Effie Moore, as well as three brothers, Arthur Buis, Robert Buis and Marcus Linzie Buis.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday (today) at Chandler-Hays Funeral Home, Greencastle, with burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
