Local middle school wrestlers in action

The Cloverdale Middle School wrestling team hosted the Cloverdale Invitational this past Saturday. Cloverdale came away with a sixth-place finish.

The Clovers had two wrestlers place first as well as three place second, two placing third and three recording fourth place finishes.

Jacob Creasey at 120 and Zach Couse at 180 were Cloverdale's top place finishers. Max Secrest, Michael Gramer and Brian Dale finished second,

Finishing in third place were Cody Atwood, and Andrew Howard, while Tristen martin, Jake Waycott and Alex Kilgore ended the day in fourth place.

In the reserve meet, Tyler Howard finished with a second place finish at 95 and Chauncey Baker closed out the day with a fourth place finish at 110.

Greencastle's wrestling team traveled to Frankfort to compete in the Frankfort Tournament on Saturday.

Kellan Alspaugh and Ben Hesler were the Tiger Cubs top placers at 110 and 145 respectively. Will Mobley placed third at heavyweight and Caden Faust was fourth in the 155-weight class.

In the junior varsity tournament, Rainey Like finished in first place at 85. Hunter Smith and Anthony Hyde came in with a second place finishes at 115 and heavyweight respectively, while Frank Lenihan was fifth at 155.

Cloverdale will host North Clay at 6 p.m. today, while Greencastle will travel to South Putnam to take on the Eagles and Rockville at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
