GMS struggles Thursday

Greencastle went three-plus quarters without scoring while North Clay put up. Greencastle held North Clay scoreless in the final period.

In B-team action, GMS was able to score only two points at the half. The Tiger Cubs struggles continued in the second half as they put up six points.

Clovers fall to Patriots

The Cloverdale Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls' basketball teams dropped a pair of contests to Owen Valley Monday night.

The seventh grade Clovers (4-12) played hard but lost to the Patriots 28--15.

The eighth grade game was an old-fashioned barn burner that was closely contested from the opening tip until the final buzzer. The eighth grade Clover team (8-8) had the ball out of bounds at mid court trailing 32-31 to the Patriots (15-2) with just 3.4 seconds remaining. Unfortunately following their final timeout the potential game-winning shot caromed off the rim as time expired.

Both Cloverdale teams will play at the Greencastle Middle School next Tuesday in the first round of the Putnam County Middle School Girls basketball tournament. The games begin at 6 p.m.
