North Putnam and Greencastle have strong showings at WCAA conference event

Cloverdale hosted the WCAA middle school wrestling tournament on Saturday. North Putnam finished the day in second place, while Greencastle was fourth and the Clovers placed sixth.

North Putnam had four wrestlers finish in first place on the day. Caleb Wining took top spot at 70 while Joe Mindiola was first at 120, Stacy Hensley at 135 and Nathaniel Crosby at 220.

Brayden Montgomery, Garret Plessinger, Larry Sexton, Jake Truax and Cody Oliver finished the day with second-place finishes. Chad Keyt recorded a fourth-place finish at 110.

Kody Collins, Ben Hesler, Kaden Faust and Will Mobley placed first for the Tiger Cubs. Nick Pingleton placed second, while Rainey Like, Jake Rickenbaugh and Dustin Williams recorded third-place finishes.

Fourth-place finishers for GMS were Tyler Scott, Tyler Hudson, Cody Mundy and Derric Williams.

The host Clovers had nine wrestlers place in the tournament.

Eldin Hesselgrave and Zach Couse were Cloverdale's top finishers placing first on the day. Jacob Creasey, Jay Metzger and Brian Dale recorded second-place finishes.

Max Secrest, Jacob Camacho and Tyler Carrell ended the day with third-place finishes, while Kody Kohler placed fourth.

Result for South Putnam was not available at presstime.

North Putnam, Greencastle, Cloverdale and South Putnam will compete in the Putnam County Tournament at Cloverdale beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
