Page experience lacking

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

To the editor:

On Feb. 4, 2008 we were scheduled to be pages for Rep. Amos Thomas at the State House, this is an honor and something we looked forward to doing. We arrived at our scheduled time, met with others paging for other Representatives that day, listened to the rules and plans for the day to run smoothly.

However, we never had the opportunity to meet with our Rep. and when it came picture time, we were told to pose with someone that isn't even in our area. We understood that Rep. Thomas had been out for surgery related issues, but also think maybe the staff could have rearranged our visit or had his own personal staff come and meet with us to apologize for his absence.

All wasn't lost in the end, as we witnessed Tony Stewart receive a proclamation and receive his Champion Ring for last years Brickyard win. It seems almost a shame that's what we seem to tell everyone about our day paging at the State House this year.
