South Putnam tennis defeats Turkey Run

Thursday, April 10, 2008

In Thursday's BannerGraphic, it was erroneously reported that South Putnam lost its Wednesday match at Turkey Run 5-0. However, the Eagles, in fact, defeated the Warriors 5-0.

The problem sprung from a misread score sheet, a problem we take every precaution to avoid.

The Eagles (2-0, 1-0 WCC) did not, in fact, surrender a single set to the Warriors in the varsity match, as everybody won in straight sets.

At No. 2 doubles, Cassie Davis and Megan Criss dominated the Warriors' team, 6-0, 6-0. Sam Callahan and Megan Klotz won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.

For the singles, Chelsea Clark won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1. At No. 2, Whitney Warren won 6-4, 6-2. Liz Mink won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

The JV defeated the Wariors 5-1. Tabitha Arnold, Ashley Ross and Patty Rodriguez all won their singles matches. The teams of Abbie Trauner and Jessica Minos and Kyle Brown and Kaitlynn Nisson won their doubles matches.

The Eagles will be back in action when they host West Vigo at 5 p.m. Monday.

  • I think the banner does a good job covering sports. everybody makes a mistake from time to time and at least they admit theirs.
