Melva Jean Caldwell, 77, of Bainbridge and formerly of Rockville, died at 3:05 pm Monday, April 14, 2008 at Westside Healthcare in Indianapolis.

She was a retired home healthcare nurse's aide. She was born Sept. 30, 1930 in Sullivan County, Ind. to the late James P. Boone and Gladys Norris Boone.

Survivors include her former husband, W. Franklin Caldwell; three sons, Jeffery F. (Becky) Caldwell of Indianapolis, Daniel J. (Annette) Caldwell of Brazil, Scott D. (Melissa) Caldwell of Rockville; one brother, Robert Boone of Westfield, Ind.; three grandchildren, Justin Caldwell, Miranda Caldwell, Gunner Caldwell; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Boone and one sister, Wilma Amis.

She attended Whitestone Christian Church in New Winchester. She attended Gertsmyer High School in Terre Haute and graduated from Tech High School of Indianapolis. She was a past Worthy Matron of Bainbridge Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville with Rev. Harlan Kincade officiating. Burial will follow services at Sutherlin Cemetery north of Morton, Ind.
