Friends of the Park seeks bands to battle it out

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

To the editor:

We are looking for bands to compete in our inaugural "Battle of the Bands" Friday, June 6, in Bainbridge.

Bands start playing at 6 p.m. outside the shelter house located beside the water tower. Each band is responsible for their own set-up, tear down and equipment.

Each band will play a 20-minute set, then tear down and the next band will set up. Winning band receives entry fee back and plaque.

Runner-up receives a plaque. Those plaques are designed by the kids and made by John Rose Trophies and Awards.

The proceeds from the Battle of the Bands goes to help fund our summer programs at Russellville, Roachdale and Bainbridge parks. We do not charge the families for the Fun in the Sun programs.

We have one fundraising festival to raise the funds along with our food booth at events through out the summer. Our goal is to have seven or more bands competing for our first year, so please pre-register by May 15.

For questions and to obtain a registration form, please call Dianna Gorrell at: 765-485-2813 or you can email her at: dianna@friendsoftheparkrussellville.org Sorry no Heavy Metal Bands allowed.

Dianna Gorrell,

Friends of the Park, president
