Charles Awbrey

Charles Raymond Awbrey, age 97, of Greencastle passed away Wednesday morning at his resident.

Born Sept. 13, 1910, in Coatesville, he was the son of Carl and Hattie (Staley) Awbrey. He attended Manuel High School in Indianapolis. He married Edith O. (Lee) Awbrey on Oct. 29, 1939, and she survives.

Mr. Awbrey had been a truck driver with the Commercial Linen Supply Co. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gerald R. Awbrey and wife Jerry Jo of Sheridan; a daughter, Charlene Fugate and husband Tom of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Lisa Cabral, Eric R. Awbrey, J. Bradford Burkman, Scott A. Booth, Mary Gworek and Kristina R. Stinson; and 13 great-grandchildren.

His parents; a brother, Clarence Awbrey, and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Booth, preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with the Rev. Dr. P.T. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Coatesville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service on Saturday.
