Fillmore sets improvement week

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Fillmore Town Council members have finalized plans for a community improvement week from May 25-31.

The Town of Fillmore will provide dumpsters that will be located beside Town Hall. Residents can bring their trash in to the dumpsters. Identification will be required. Drivers License or a current utility bill will be accepted as proof of residency.

Items that need special disposal procedures can be taken to the Putnam County Fairgrounds on May 31 when the county holds its annual Tox Away Day. These items include antifreeze, oil based paints, pool chemicals, paint thinners and other items. Items that will not be accepted include ammunition for firearms, asbestos and lab chemicals. For a complete list of toxic waste items go to www.weswtcentralswd.com.

The Fillmore Christian Church along with several individuals have offered to help with special projects or provide assistance to anyone needing help cleaning up.

A pig roast and chicken barbeque will also take place at Town Hall on the 31st. Dixie's Barbeque is donating their time to help prepare food that is being provided by Town Councilman Wes Terhune. Bert & Betty's Kitchen will provide desserts. Re-sidents are asked to bring a side dish and join the fun. For more information about the community improvement week, call Town Hall at 246-6711 or visit their Web site at www.fillmoreindiana.com
