Hamblin and Alex place in top 10 at state tournament
FORT WAYNE -- A number of local female bowlers placed in the recent state bowling tournament. The Indiana State USBC WBA paid out $111,975 in prize money to bowlers from all over the state.
Christy Hamblin and Janelle Alex had the top finishes among local bowlers, with each collecting a top 10 finish.
In the singles, 150 and below division, Hamblin rolled her highest game ever with a 256 and placed fourth with a series of 793.
In all events, 150 and below, Alex placed ninth with a total score of 2,201.
In the team event, the York Family Autos team of Hamblin, Nellie Conway, Tiffany Friars and Susan Stuart placed 16th in its division with a 2,673.
In doubles, Jackie Robinson and Sheri Kendall placed 85th in the 301 and above division with a 1,364. In the 300 and below division, Terease Cox and Sheri Comer placed 81st with a 1,379.
In singles (151 and above), Marty Giltz placed 42nd with a 740 and Robinson placed 154th with a 704. In 150 and below, Alex finished 28th with a 754, Jill Newton finished 37th (743), Cox finished 205th (698) and Lisa Hutcheson placed 223rd (696).
Also placing in all events division were Hamblin in 88th (2,069), Newton in 106th (2,061) and Hutcheson in 156th (2,039).
