Friday, June 6, 2008

The annual Bake Sale/Barbecue Fundraiser in support of FYCDP is planned for Saturday, June 21 at the Greencastle Wal-Mart parking lot.

From 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the organization will sell smoked barbeque chicken and ribs prepared on site. Delicious cakes, pies, cookies and other desserts baked by the senior citizens of Greencastle's South End Community will also be available.

The menu includes rib meals for $9, chicken meals for $8, a slab of ribs for $20, whole chicken for $10, side order of beans for $2, and desserts for $1 each.

The fundraiser supports the Family Youth and Community Development Program, which was founded to assist the youth and senior citizens of the South End. The FYCDP community center, located at 605 Crown St., hosts after-school tutoring (supported by Greencastle Community Schools and DePauw University) meetings for 4-H clubs and Girl Scout troops, and hosts activities for senior citizens.

The annual Jazz Fest and golf scramble are also planned this year for Labor Day Weekend. For more information, call the community center at 653-6467.

For information on the golf scramble, call Don Irwin at 653-9886.
