Garnett Porter

Garnett Virginia Elliott Ford Porter, 81, of Poland, died Thursday at Holly Hill Health Care, in Brazil.

Born in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Harry Allen and Inez (Campbell) Hayes.

Mrs. Porter was a department head at P.R. Mallory in Greencastle. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Poland.

Survivors include three daughters, Lynn "Linda" Brown and son-in-law Robert A., of Greencastle, Barbara Hopkins and son-in-law Joe, of Double Spring, Ala., and Phyllis Stanton and son-in-law Robert, of Poland; two sons, Larry Allen Elliott and daughter-in-law Jeanie, of Knightsville, and Glenn Elliott and daughter-in-law Janet, of Reelsville; a sister, Elmora Edwards and husband George, of Staunton; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands Byron Elliott, Jim Ford and William A. Porter, in addition to one sister and two brothers.

Services are private and burial is at Poland Chapel Cemetery.
