Earl Russell Blaydes, 93, of Greencastle died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the Waters of Greencastle.

Mr. Blaydes was born April 4, 1915, in Carpentersville to Grover Cleveland and Clona Dickerson Blaydes. He married Leona Claire Jenkins on Sept. 25, 1935, in Paris, Ill., and she preceded him in death in December 1983.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer, and had also worked at DePauw University in the physical plant. He was a member of the San Dia Baptist Church in San Dia, Texas.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquline and Lloyd Coats of Paris, Texas and Gwyn and Dan Sapp of Greencastle; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen P. Sr. and Sharon Blaydes of Reelsville; a sister, Dorothy Templeman of Roachdale; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

His parents and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at Clinton Falls Cemetery, with the Rev. Stephen P. Blaydes Jr. officiating. Calling will be Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Chandler-Hayes Funeral Home, Greencastle.
