John E. Kumpf, 81, of Sarasota, Fla., died Friday, June 13, 2008 at Sarasota Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Brazil on May 16, 1927, he was the son of Leslie and Irene (O'Hair) Kumpf. He married Mary Ann (Augustin) Kumpf on June 19, 1955, and she preceded him in death on May 31, 1978.

He worked as a salesman for Moorman Feed Company and was a member of the United Methodist Church, was a 1946 graduate of Staunton High School and Purdue University. He was also a former member of the Jackson Township Band and Lions Club and was past president of the Plymouth Blueberry Festival.

Survivors include daughters, Charlotte Kumpf, of Leigh Acres, Fla., Kathy Siscoe and husband Tim, of Tipp City, Ohio, and Connie Gibson and husband John, of Alamogordo, N.M.; a son, Steven Kumpf, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Mary Lou Riddell, of Brazil; brothers, Earl Kumpf and wife Mary, of Toledo, Ohio, and Bill Kumpf and wife Rosemary, of Brazil; grandchildren, Rachel and David Siscoe; sisters-in-law, Helen Kumpf, of Brazil, and Roxie Kumpf, of Brazil.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers Glenn Kumpf and Max Kumpf.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cloverdale United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Fulp and Pastor Bob Kumpf officiating. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.

Calling is 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, is in charge of arrangements.
