James Harold Collins, 99, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Mill Pond.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1908 in Putnam County to Oral Ernest and Dovie Jones Collins.

Mr. Collins was the former owner of the Linton IGA, and High Point Oil Company Gas Stations in Greencastle and Bainbridge.

His son, James Warren Collins, his wife, Mary Ann (Hamm) Collins four sisters, Bernice Shake, Melba Isaacs, Joann Sellers, Millicent Collins and three brothers, Lowell Collins, Cedric Collins, and Bruce Collins preceded him in death.

Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Penny Collins; four grandchildren, Deborah (Michael) Korkos of Findlay, Ohio, James (Tammy) Collins of Carlisle, Pa., Bradford (Nancy) Collins of Greencastle and Melissa (Rob) Wright of Greencastle; two sisters, Phyllis Padgett of Greencastle and Jean Roberts of Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, Ryan (Candice) Korkos, Emily Korkos, Jacob Collins, Katie Collins, Megan Lewis, Nolan Lewis, Mallory Lewis, Ivy Wright, Delaney Wright, Jacob Wright, Hailey Wright and Macy Wright; one great-great grandson, Riley James Korkos; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday July 25, 2008 at 6 p.m. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials in Mr. Collins' name may be made to the Oncology Department at Putnam County Hospital. Interment will be private at Forest Hill Cemetery.
