Alfred "Broady" Broadstreet, 86, of Centerpoint, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at his residence.

Born in April 25, 1922, in Cloverdale, he was the son of James A. and Lottie Ethel (Daniels) Broadstreet. He married Hazel (Haberle) Broadstreet on Dec. 21, 1968, and she survives.

He was a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking in Greencastle and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Cunot and formerly attended the Big Walnut Baptist Church, Reelsville and Palmdale Baptist in Palmdale, Fla. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Teamsters Local No. 135.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Loretta Jolliff and husband Ken, of Greencastle, Mary Ellen Ballard, Summerville, S.C., and Jennifer Detro and husband Dake, of Russellville; three sons, Jeff Broadstreet and wife Julia, of Bloomington, Jim Broadstreet and wife Donna, of Solsberry, Ind., and Ed Wick and wife Mary Ann, of Billings, Mont.; a sister, Mildred McClure, of Cloverdale; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Hazel Stone and son Mike Broadstreet.

Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Pastor Wes McClure officiating. Burial will be at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery, south of Greencastle.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
