Clothing store to open next month

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Peebles Department Store has announced the grand opening of a store in Putnam Plaza, Greencastle, on Sept. 25.

Along with a new Sears store, which opened earlier this summer, Peebles will help fill empty space in the abandoned Wal-Mart center.

Tractor Supply (TSC) moved to the empty building a few years ago but much of the center remained empty until this year.

Peebles is a family style clothing store offering tried and true classics with brands like Adidas, Keds, VanHeusen, Nike, Liz Claiborne, Rafaella, Mudd, Lee, Dickies, Haggar, SagHarbor, Tommy Hilfiger and others.

The store will have departments for misses, juniors, men's, children's, shoes, fragrances, accessories and home accents.

Peebles offers an exclusive discount program for customers age 50 and over. These customers can sign up to receive e-mail alerts for upcoming sales and events. The store also offers customers access to a store-branded credit card and VIP Rewards Program, which offers invitations to exclusive savings events, free gift-wrapping and more, based on annual credit card purchases. Cardholders also receive bonus savings coupons via mail.

Peebles is owned by Stage Stores, which operates under the Bealls, Palais Royal and Stage names in the South Central states, and under the Peebles name throughout the New England, Mid-Atlantic, Southeastern and Midwestern states.

Currently in Indiana there are Peebles stores located in Angola, Batesville, Columbia City, Greenfield and Huntington.

Nationally the company operates over 700 stores in 35 states.

  • We're moving on up....Thank God, we're now just 99 years behind the times. Can't wait for this one to open. As I go through downtown Greencastle I will be able to see my way to Peebles, courtesy of the new lights downtown (when we get them).

  • Well, I was excited about this store, but where are the women's sizes? Is this (hopefully) just a typo and the women's sizes were left out byt the Banner? I really hope this store will have women's sizes. There are quite a few people in Greencastle and surrounding cities that cannot fit into juniors or misses. (Myself being one of them!)

  • I am not a big person, but I think its time that people who are small show some respect to others that are not. Its not an easy thing to lose weight nor is it an easy thing to stay small. Everyone needs to have a variety when it comes to clothes. If this NEW STORE was a plus size store I am sure some mite be upset because it wouldnt benefit them. Show some respect, not everyone is as fortunate as thin rudely-opinionated people!!!

  • Thanks for bringing in another clothing store, with gas prices the way they are it is nice to know there will be a place to get clothing and other gifts, and not have to drive out of town.

Greencastle is finally moving ahead and trying to keep shoppers here in our town. Am looking forward to the stores opening, and the senior discounts offered.Thank you Greencastle!!!!

  • Glad to hear that Greencastle is getting another clothing store. To answer the "womens' section" statement... a little investigative research would have answered that for any of you. their online add (found at peebles.com) actually lists sale items in women's sizes, as well as those above.
