Richard Auxter Jenkins, 94, formerly of Tipp City, Ohio, died Aug. 4, 2008.

He born Dec. 4, 1913 in Tipp City, Ohio to Paul Everton and Cora Belle (Auxter) Jenkins.

He was a six-year resident of Asbury Retirement Community, Greencastle, where he passed away on Monday, but his roots were in Tipp City, Ohio where he lived for most of his life.

He was a 1932 graduate of Tippecanoe High School and attended Miami University from 1932 to 1934. He was a retired letter carrier and clerk with the Tipp City Post Office. After retirement he resided in Kettering, Ohio and Winter Haven, Fla.

He was a member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy B. (Trone) Jenkins whom he married in 1937 and his second wife Velma (Friley) Hargis Jenkins; infant son Don Paul Jenkins; and brother Gilbert A. Jenkins who had resided in Mentor, Ohio.

Surviving are his daughters Judith A. (Jenkins) George, Greencastle, Joann C. (Jenkins) Hubenka, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; one grandson and one nephew; his wife, Julia Jenkins, Winterhaven, Fla. and a step-niece.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 West Main Street, Tipp City, OH 45371. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.

Visitation is Saturday at 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
