The beauty of local churches displayed at county museum

Friday, August 8, 2008

A photo exhibit at the Putnam County Museum of local churches, past and present, is worth a trip to the north side of Greencastle.

Photographer Ken Torr has provided the museum with a large number of photos of churches from all over the county.

The pictures include small country churches as well as larger structures. Many of the older photos have unique features such as an old door, stained glass window or view of a steeple.

Pictures show the buildings in their current state and many have an old view of the structure as well.

Some of the churches in Putnam County that are on the National Register of Historic Places are Brick Chapel United Methodist Church and the Putnamville Presbyterian Church.

The exhibit is running through mid-September. For information call 653-8419 or email museum@co.putnam.in.us.
