South Putnam edges Cloverdale

The Cloverdale Clovers lost a tight match against county rival South Putnam 206-225.

The Clovers had three of its four strikers finish within eight strokes of each other.

Kayla Langdon led the Clover charge with a 50, with Elizabeth Wiley just behind with a 51 and Victoria Boyette shot a 58. Erica Looper finished the day with a 66.

"It's encouraging to see Erica get into the 60s and Victoria slip into the 50s for the third straight time," CHS head coach Ken Williams said. "Our team score of 225 is below our season's average. As our No.3 and No.4 continue to improve, we hope to get below 220 regularly."

The Eagles had two golfers finish with scores in the 40s. Heather Hughes led South Putnam with a 41 and Grace Aker carded a solid 47 in the win. Cassie Warren finished the day with a 57, while Sarah Dobson shot a 61, Kelsey Searles a 63 and Cierra Perry a 78.

Cloverdale will host Eminence and Owen Valley at 4:30 p.m. Monday, while the Eagles will travel to Southmont at 4:30 today.
