Dr. Richard Lester Veach age 88 of Bainbridge, passed away Tuesday at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

Born Jan. 1, 1920 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Lester Wardlaw and Clara (Weaver) Veach. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School "Class of 1938" and a third generation graduate of Indiana University Medical School "Class of 1944". He married Dorothy (Shuck) Veach on April 24, 1943 and survives.

Dr. Veach had been a physician/general practitioner and OBGYN in Bainbridge for 43 years. He had also served as the Anesthesiologist for the Putnam County Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Veach; a cousin, Patricia George and husband, Phil of Trafalger; brother-in-law, Phillip Shuck and wife, Joann of Greencastle; a sister-in-law, Melba Hanlon of Plainfield; four nephews, Richard Shuck and wife, Teddy of Greencastle, Edward Shuck and wife, Lori of Greencastle, Jerry Shuck and wife, Sharon of Avon, Tom Hanlon and wife, Judy of Plainfield; and a niece, Elizabeth "Libby" Buche and husband, Tim of Plainfield.

Private family services will be held on Thursday. Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home are assisting with the arrangements.

In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana University Foundation for Medical Research.
