Eagles drop contest with Braves

BRAZIL -- The South Putnam Eagles fell to the Braves of Terre Haute South 168-192 Monday.

The Braves turned out to be too much for the Eagles. Terre Haute South had three golfers finish 40 or better for the round.

"We played the best round of the year," Eagles head coach Debbie Steffy said. The girls saw this as a challenge playing Terre Haute South and played very well."

The Eagles were led by Heather Hughes' 40, with Grace Aker adding a 43 of her own. The Eagles got personal best round out of Sarah Burnham, Sarah Dobson and Cierra Perry. Perry shot a 54, Burnham shot a 55 and Dobson carded 56.

Kelsey Searles had a solid round for South Putnam, shooting a 55. Cassie Warren tied her personal best round with a 57 and Tiffani Cox shot a 66 for the Eagles.

The Eagles will battle Monrovia at Deer Creek Golf Course at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
