Tiger Cubs on court struggles continue

For the third straight match, the Greencastle girls' volleyball team continued to improve but came up short. The Tiger Cubs fell to Southmont in three games 25-21, 25-20 and 25-21.

"We are improving," GHS coach Trish Lowe. "I don't care what the scoreboard said; we are getting better."

Chelsea Samuels contributed 19 digs, nine blocks, two stuffs, 12 spikes and one ace, while Brooke Lewis had 19 digs, 12 spikes, two blocks, one kills and one ace. Mallory Miller added 18 digs, two blocks, 13 assists, two kills, two aces and amassed 60 sets in the contest.

Jordyn Lewis chipped in 15 digs, one block and one assist, with Kayla Nobles recording 12 digs, 14 spikes and eight kills.

"We got the ball in the setter's hands more often," Lowe said. "Now, we have to finish the points and become more consistent."

In junior varsity action, the Tiger Cubs fell to 0-3 on the season. GHS lost 25-15 and 25-11.

The Tiger Cubs will hit the road to face Sullivan at 6 p.m.
