Day Spa owners 'cooperate' with police

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

The search for suspects in a fire that heavily damaged Greencast-le's Victorian Day Spa last week continues.

Greencastle Police Detective Randy Seipel has completed interviews of the spa's owners, Tom and Rhonda Stonebraker, and they are not considered suspects, according to Police Chief Tom Sutherlin.

"The owners have been interviewed and they are being cooperative," Sutherlin told the Banner Graphic Monday night.

Fire broke out at the business last Tuesday evening. Firefighters were able to put out the fire but not before it caused an estimated $40,000 to $60,000 in damage, according to Fire Chief Bill Newgent on the night of the fire.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Greencastle Police Department at 653-2925.

  • I wish the Stonebrakers all the best. This has to be hard to go through. God bless.

  • Tom, I hope they find out who caused the fire for your peace of mind.

    Your cousin from up north.

  • I find it ironic that the statement above the comment box say to be respectful of others Why is cooperate in quotation marks? Is the author trying to imply that the owners were less than helpful? How could he possibly know that since those interviews are done in confidence. Is this a newspaper or a gossip column. Any self respecting journalist would be ashamed to have his or her name associated with this article.

  • I have to agree "Seria" I thought the same thing when I read the article. It sounds like the BG is trying to fuel rumors or start them!

  • Hey everyone!!! I believe that the police should dwell a little deeper into this matter than by just asking the owners. I would be speaking to the employees as well. Maybe family members that like to play with fire. Something. I just feel this fire is a little to suspicious to be just another coincedence.

    P.s. Respectful enough?
