ALERT! Sign up for DOC warnings

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

PUTNAMVILLE -- Superintendent Michael J. Osburn, at the Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF), urges members of the community to sign-up for the ALERT Notification Service. "It's a win, win situation," states Osburn. "The community is notified of escapes and other facility emergencies, and we receive community involvement in the apprehension of escapees."

The statewide ALERT Notification system, a partnership with the Indiana Sherriff's Association, has been operational since January 2008, and more than 100 members of the surrounding PCF community have signed-up to date.

The ALERT system will automatically call you in the event of an escape or emergency and attempt to call you for up to 12 hours until you, your voicemail, or an answering machine receives the message. A follow-up message will be sent notifying you of the offender's re-capture or resolution of the emergency.

Help keep your family safe with immediate notification of escapes in your community.

It's a free service and has user friendly instructions. Register today by calling toll free at 1-866-949-2537 and enter zip code 46135 when prompted.

The Indiana Department of Correction is committed to keeping you and your loved ones safe.
