Tiger Cubs fall on road

ELLETSVILLE -- Greencastle traveled south to Edgewood to face the Mustangs Monday night. The Tiger Cubs dropped the heartbreaker by falling in five grueling games 17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 27-29 and 14-16.

"We put up a great fight, but not enough to give us a win," Greencastle head coach Trish Lowe said. This was an opportunity for us to pull out the victory and it just didn't happen."

Helping lead the Tiger Cubs was Brooke Lewis who recorded 31 digs, 21 spikes, eight kills, five points, two blocks and one stuff block. Mallory Miller also had a big game for GHS with 20 digs, six blocks, 21 assists and nine kills. She also tallied 13 points and six aces.

Kayla Nobles had 23 digs, 18 spikes, six kills and 10 points, while Jordyn Lewis added 16 digs, four attacks, two kills and eight points.

After starting strong, GHS stumbled but quickly regained its composure and began to turn the tide. After winning the first game, they lost the next two. Greencastle came back and won the following game to set up a fifth and decisive game for the match. Unfortunately for Greencastle, they couldn't corral the Mustangs.

"We had a horrible start and then got things together, unfortunately (it was) not enough," Lowe said.

Greencastle will host Terre Haute South at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
