The Greencastle girls' soccer team lost to Speedway 6-4 at home on Monday.

Speedway scored three times before Greencastle got on the board. They scored their first goal at 38:37, then scored again at the 31:10 mark. Another goal at 15:55 made it 3-0.

Greencastle scored when Whitney Brotherton found Hannah Spencer with 3:16 to go in the half.

Speedway led 3-1 at the half.

"We discussed marking your player and being more aggressive since their team was being very physical and the officials were letting them play that way," said GHS coach Maurice McKee.

In the second half, Speedway scored early again at the 38:51 mark.

Spencer again scored for the Tiger Cubs at the 32:50 mark. Speedway replied with score at the 31:51 mark, and again at the 26:56 mark.

Spencer didn't give up and replied with two more scores of her own at 8:56, and at 6:01. This gave GHS some momentum, but they ran out of time.

"We did not play to our potential tonight and that is too bad since this was one of the major opponents in the conference. We would like to have a conference championship again but the best that could happen now would be a three way tie for first," said McKee.

Greencastle will host Danville at 6 p.m. Monday.
