To the Editor:

Thank you so much to all of the folks who made the Humane Society of Putnam County's First Annual Paws on Parade Dog Walk-a-thon such a big success!

Saturday, Oct. 4, couldn't have been a prettier day and dogs and people alike had such a good time that we can hardly wait until next year's Second Annual Paws on Parade!

We especially wish to thank the DePauw Nature Park staff, in particular Ranger Brien Holsapple, for allowing us to use the nature park for our event; SPOT's Dr. Nancy Ferguson, DVM, and Shannon Crigger, RVT, for their microchipping services and spay/neuter information; our DePauw student volunteers, especially Emma Minx, Kate Frankenberg, and Janet Mellinger for all of their hard work making Paws on Parade a success; Jen Herrold for our wonderful logo; Marion Harvey for her display concerning animal rights, as well as her neck massages; Scott Riggle and the DePauw tennis teams; and Jo MacPhail who made not only delicious cookies but also spent countless hours making dog bandanas.

Tremendous thanks go to all of our Paws on Parade sponsors: Barry Grimes Construction, Charlie and Lynn Wilson, Ensor Service, Cash Concrete Products, Max Watts, Black Lumber Company, Inc., A.A. Huber & Sons, Inc., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Richardson Construction, Thomas Ditching, Inc., McDonald's of Greencastle, York Automotive Family, HGB Insurance & Bonds, West Central Veterinary Service, Greencastle, Old National Bank, and Cinergy Metronet.

We couldn't have done it without you.

Finally, and most especially, thank you to all of the people and dogs who came out to enjoy the walk and games. See you next year!
