Clark J. Shoemaker

Clark J. "Pete" Shoemaker, 83 of Crawfordsville and formerly of Russellville and Greencastle, died Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the Ben Hur Healthcare facility in Crawfordsville.

Mr. Shoemaker was born Dec. 24, 1924 in Whitestown to Clark M. and Virgie L. (Pipes) Shoemaker.

He was a graduate of Whitestown High School class of 1944.

He married Charlotte M. (Masters) Shoemaker on Dec. 2, 1950 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2002.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He had worked as a maintenance man for the VanBibber's at VanBibber Lake for several years and was later self employed.

Survivors include his children, Clark "Ed" Shoemaker and wife, Linda of Greencastle, Jenny Boler and husband, Wilbern of Russellville, Everett Shoemaker and wife, Robin of Indianapolis, and Mike Shoemaker and wife, Nicci of Greencastle; two brothers, Joseph Shoemaker and wife, Bev of Whitestown and Jerry Shoemaker and wife, Melissa of South Bend; a sister Martha Henderson and husband, George of St. Petersburg; 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Gene Shoemaker; and two sisters, Melba Johnson and Mildred Davis.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Brick Chapel Cemetery.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
