Sheriff's Department

There have been numerous accidents reported to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Mark Scott, Greencastle, reported he was traveling south on County Road 500 East, when an oncoming vehicle sideswiped his company Ford truck. The unknown vehicle continued traveling north to S.R. 240 without stopping. A suspect has not been located at this time. The accident occurred at 10:13 p.m. Nov. 7.

Becky Billings, Brazil, was traveling south on County Road 375 when she entered an "S" curve in the road. The road was slick from rain and oil, causing her vehicle to skid and cross the centerline. Billings' vehicle left the road, struck a fence and broke the fence post. She stated her speed was 30 to 35 miles per hour when her vehicle started to skid. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages. The accident occurred at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 14.

Andzulis Thomas, Forest City, Pa., reported he braked to make a right turn, when his truck slid into a car driven by Jeanette Renshaw of Carmel. Renshaw's vehicle was in the opposite lane of traffic. The accident occurred at 5:32 p.m. Nov. 14 on County Road 175 East. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Rachel Hopkins, Greencastle, was traveling west on U.S. 40 at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, when a deer entered the road from the south. Hopkins was unable to avoid a collision. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Randy Conkright, Waveland, was traveling west on S.R. 236 at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, when a deer entered the road. Conkright reported he was unable to avoid hitting the animal. There was an estimated $750 to $1,000 in damages.

Brady Lane, Cloverdale, was traveling north on U.S. 231 at 7:35 a.m. Monday, when a deer entered the road. Lane was given no time to react and hit the animal. Lane and her three children were uninjured in the accident. Lane's vehicle was left at the scene for her husband or a wrecker to remove it later in the day. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Patsy Garrett, Cloverdale, was traveling on U.S. 40 at 8:20 p.m. Monday, when a deer entered the roadway. Garrett was unable to avoid hitting the animal. No injuries were reported at the scene. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Keven Crowe, Coatsville, was traveling west on U.S. 36 at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday and came to the stop light at U.S. 231. Crowe was making a left turn onto U.S. 231, while a tractor-trailer was headed east on U.S. 36 and attempting a left turn onto U.S. 231. A vehicle, driven by Stephen Wilson of Bloomington, was traveling behind the tractor-trailer east on U.S. 36 and attempted to pass it in the right turn lane. Wilson's vehicle struck the passenger side of Crowe's vehicle. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Myrna Schevermann, Greencastle, was traveling on Manhattan Road at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, when a deer entered the road. Schevermann was unable to avoid hitting the animal. No injuries were reported at the scene. There was an estimated $2,501 to $5,000 in damages.

Tony Schlegel, Carbon, was traveling south on Manhattan Road at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, when a deer entered the roadway. Schlegel was unable to avoid hitting the animal. No injuries were reported at the scene. There was an estimated $1,001 to $2,500 in damages.

Putnam County Jail

Putnam County Sheriff's Department made the following arrests, with one by Indiana State Police.

Adam Parks, 24, Roachdale, was booked at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday for contempt of court and failure to appear.

Clyde Tate, 48, Greencastle, was booked at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday for violation of home detention.

Donald Mulkern, 45, Cloverdale, was booked at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday for operating while intoxicated, public intoxication and operating per se.

Laura Fariello, 40, Stilesville, was booked at 11:36 a.m. Wednesday for violation of probation and public intoxication.

Charles Kirk, 34, Borden, was booked at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday for battery.
