Audrey Leone Deem

Audrey Leone Deem, 86, of Greencastle passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at her residence.

She was born Dec. 18, 1921 to William Otis and Nora R. Menta Miller Alspaugh. She married Orville Glenn Deem on April 16, 1949. He preceded her in death in Feb. 8,1991.

Mrs. Deem had been a bookstore manager in the Annex at DePauw University for 18 years and previously owned the U-Shop on the campus of DePauw as well as the Monon Grill and Deem Shonkwiler Jewelers.

She is survived by daughter Glennda Deem and sister Eldena McCarson, both of Greencastle, and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Muriel Thomas, Mildred Quinton, Edna Bachert and Madonna King; and four brothers, Maynard Alspaugh, Ralph Alspaugh, William Alspaugh and Don Wayne Alspaugh.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednsday, Nov. 26 at the Abundant Life Baptist Church, 822 W. Hwy. 40, Greencastle. The calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, also at the church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to Abundant Life Baptish Church. Chandler Hayes Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
