Harry Timmons Sutherlin, 88, of Carlisle, Pa. died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.

Born, Feb. 10, 1920 in Coatesville, he was a son of the late James Earl and Viola Jo Timmons Sutherlin. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Purdue University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for 20 years at Bethlehem Steel Company, Bethlehem, Pa. and 21 years at Exxon Research and Engineering Company in New Jersey.

Survivors are a son, Gerard Sutherlin, Indianapolis; a daughter, Marietta Sutherlin of Manly, New South Wales, Australia; a brother, Richard Sutherlin of Acworth, Ga., formerly of Greencastle; three sisters, Mildred Sitler of Frankfort, Frances Waddell of Greenwood, and Betty Carpenter of Kentland; four stepsons; one stepdaughter; 14 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sutherlin was the widower of Dorothy Gross who died in 2007, Irene Ferry who died in 1989 and Loretta Knight who died in 1966. Three brothers, James, Julian, and Joseph and one sister, Jeanette Toney, preceded him in death.

Memorial Services were held Nov. 8, 2008 in Carlisle, Pa. and burial was Nov. 15, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mendham, N.J.
