No major accidents reported

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

While the snow and ice on roadways had caused a lot of headaches for Putnam County motorists Monday evening, no major incidents had been reported as of 11:15 p.m., Putnam County 911 Dispactch reported.

According to Night Shift Supervisor Becky Chadd, the office had received numerous reports of slideoffs, but "nothing major."

The biggest problem of the evening was actually a power outage, caused when a vehicle struck a pole on Manhattan Rd.

Chadd said the biggest trouble areas included West Walnut Street, Irwin Bridge, Bainbridge-Roachdale Road in the north and Burma Road near Cloverdale.

Of course, I-70 also kept officers busy throughout the evening.

  • Drove from Roachdale to South Putnam-saw several slide-offs. Saw no sand/chemical trucks. State Roads finally were treated. As usual the Roachdale-Bainbridge road was terrible.
