Tiger Cub fall to Tri-West in overtime

Thursday, December 4, 2008

LIZTON -- The Greencastle girls' basketball team rallied to force overtime with Tri-West Tuesday, but ultimately fell 63-60. With the loss, GHS drops to 4-2 on the season.

"(We had a) slow start," GHS head coach Glenn Hile said. "(We) didn't defend Tri-West's Julie Jensen and Sam Ricks very well."

Greencastle outscored the Bruins 19-8 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but it was Jensen and Ricks who delivered the punch when Tri-West needed it. The two combined to account for the Bruins' five overtime points, which gave them just enough of a margin to sneak past the Tiger Cubs.

Hannah Spencer led GHS with 24 points, followed by Becky Grivas' 14. The trio of Kayla Nobles, Chelsea Samuels and Mallory Miller scored five each; with Kelsey Wainmen adding four points and Tennille Burgeson added three.

Greencastle will be at Edgewood at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
