Jerome H. Schwamberger

Jerome H. Schwamberger, 92, of Greencastle passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at the Waters of Greencastle.

Born April 11, 1916 in Wheelersburg, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph & Mary Thieken Schwamburger. He married Betty J. Humphries in 1947 and she preceded him in death on June 3, 2002.

Mr. Schwamberger served in the United States Army during World War II. He had been a carpenter and locksmith with the James Rouderbusch Veteran's Hospital in Indianapolis for over 20 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle.

Survivors include his son John E. Schwamberger and wife Linda of Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters, Mary Teipen of Indianapolis and Marty Teipen and husband Jay of Cloverdale; a foster daughter, Carol Huckaba of Mantoon, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

A private family memorial will be held. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has assisted with the arrangements.
