Sheriff's Department

Icy road conditions are to blame for recent accidents in the county.

Morna Kline, Staunton, was traveling east on U.S. 40 at 8:20 a.m. Monday, when her vehicle slid into a utility pole due to slick road conditions. Kline and her female passenger were taken to Putnam County Hospital complaining of neck pain. Seniour's Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene. There was an estimated $10,001 to $25,000 in damages.

Carole Lentz, Coatesville, was traveling west on S.R. 240 at 7:15 a.m. Monday, when her vehicle spun 360 degrees and slid off the road due to an ice patch on the road. The rear of her vehicle then struck a tree. Lentz was taken to the hospital. Her husband later came to the scene and stated he would have the vehicle removed after weather conditions cleared. There was an estimated $5,001 to $10,000 in damages.

Putnam County Jail

There were two people booked into the Putnam County Jail for various charges Monday.

Sheila Shidler, 45, Crawfordsville, was booked at 6:07 p.m. Monday for refusal to submit to a chemical test and operating while intoxicated.

Holly Rose, 45, Gosport, was booked at 7:47 p.m. Monday for operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator and operating while intoxicated.
