Lorene J. Cosby, age 92, of Waveland died at St. Clare Medical Center on Dec. 29, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on May 28, 1916 at Waveland to Lonnie and Vernie Bacon Jenkins. She married Leonard L. Cosby on April 12, 1936 at her parents' home at Waveland.

She graduated from Waveland High School in 1934 and then graduated from Central Normal College at Danville. She owned and operated Ma and Pa's Filling Station and Lunch Room in Waveland from 1936 to 1942.

Mrs. Cosby taught school at Byron, Waveland, New Market and was a substitute teacher in Montgomery and Parke Counties.

She attended Harvest Fellowship Church in New Market and was a charter member of Howard Township Homemakers Club.

Survivors include two sons, Philip Cosby and wife Elaine and Max Cosby and wife Beverly, all of Waveland; one foster daughter, Delaine Weaver of Waveland; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and foster son Joe Keedy.

Funeral Services are planned for Saturday Jan. 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home at 301 E. Green St., Waveland. . Burial will be at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Marshall.

Calling will bey from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn McFarland will officiate.
