Robert A. "Bob" Bowen, 82, of Fillmore died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009.

He was born May 12, 1926 in Floyd Township to Dennis B. and Leota Zeiner Bowen.

Mr. Bowen served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from Meadow Gold as a milk delivery man with 30 years of service and was owner of Kendallville Tire and Auto for 19 years. He was a member of Fillmore United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Barbara P. Bowen; two daughters, Karen Hamm and husband Bill of Greencastle and Teresa Pratt of Indianapolis; a brother, Noble L. Bowen and wife Ruth Anne of Plainfield; four grandchildren, Nathan Hamm and wife Jodie, Emily Sitterding and husband Zac, Patrick Atkins and Ted Atkins; and three grandchildren, Ethan Hamm, Eli Hamm and Zoe Atkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Fillmore Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Palmer-Smith officiating. Military honors will follow.
