Public library hosts publication party

Attention poets and writers: the Putnam County Public Library is hosting a publication party from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Kiwanis room at the library.

This "party" is designed to help writers network with other writers in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.

Magazine writers will read accepted works and all poets and writers from Putnam County are invited to attend, regardless of age or inclusion in this year's Putnam County Literary magazine.

Pre-registration is not required for open mic, but is encouraged.

Authors that have been accepted into the Putnam County Literary magazine are Barbara Silander, Lori Mitchell, Lara Kramer, Christina Smith, Lyndsey Goodrich, Bette Killion, Lee Gray, Addison Hughes, Robyn Davis, Walter Reeves Sr. (submitted by his grandson, Lee Walters,) Ka'Lena Cuevas, Lori Crosby, Jillian Strandness, Ben Barham, Theresa Hendrixson, Harold Spicer, Evaline Clark, Cynthia Dewes, Blake Nelson, Jordan Linker and Dan Royer.

  • I suppose my Chicago 'roots' are showing with that comment. Some poetry readings are pretty harsh, the Slams are tough on people--I wanted to clarify that there would be no popcorn throwing, booing, etc!

    Oh- additionally, we have a last minute event that same night including a theatrical release of the trailer for a new trilogy based on the life and demise of Pearl Bryan. (Titled Hell's Gate)

    Not related topics obviously, but worthy of note. Ron Whitt, the director of the films, will be there. The trailer and meet and greet will go from 2-3 pm...Come join us, smaller gov now:)
