William F. Minnick, 81, of Tavares, Fla. died Nov. 22, 2008.

He was born in Cloverdale on May 25, 1927 to William and Aral Furr Minnick. He graduated from Cloverdale High School in 1945. He lived in Lake County, Fla. for 23 years.

Mr. Minnick was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II, and was a Baptist. He was also a high school administrator and basketball coach in Indiana. He was a member of Cloverdale F & AM Lodge #132 for over 50 years, the Florida Elks, National Association of Secondary School Principals and of Pine Meadows Country Club for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Joan of Grand Island, Fla., son Michale Minnick and wife Kim of Lake Park, Ga., daughter Sandra Shaw and husband Robert of Avon, stepson Mark Knobloch and wife Susan of Temple, Texas, stepdaughter Jane Smith and husband Gordon of Littleton, Colo., brother Robert Minnick of Indianapolis, uncle Glen Furr of Cloverdale, 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the American Legion, 636 E. Main St., Brownsburge on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 between 4 and 6 p.m.
